Texas Elevator Solutions

Home Elevator & Stairlift FAQs

Straight answers to the questions Texas homeowners ask most about residential elevators, stairlifts, installation, safety, and service.

Getting Started

Who we are and how to begin
What areas of Texas do you serve?

We're a veteran-owned, North Texas–based team serving the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex — including Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Arlington, Denton, Richardson, and surrounding communities — with elevator and stairlift service available across Texas.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. Every project starts with a free in-home consultation. We assess your home or building, review your mobility needs, and recommend the right elevator or stairlift — with no obligation.

Is Texas Elevator Solutions veteran-owned?

Yes. We're a veteran-owned and operated company based in North Texas. Our installations are performed by trained technicians and overseen by QEI Certified Inspectors.

What elevator and stairlift brands do you install?

We install and service trusted accessibility brands including Savaria, Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators (PVE), Inclinator, and Cambridge Elevating, matching the right equipment to your home and needs.

Home Elevators

Types, fit, and how they work
What types of home elevators do you install in Texas?

We install space-saving pneumatic (vacuum) home elevators and hydraulic home elevators, and we help you choose the type that best fits your home. Pneumatic models are especially popular across DFW for their compact, no-pit design.

Can a residential elevator be added to an existing home?

Yes — many of our installations are retrofits. Pneumatic vacuum elevators need no pit or machine room, making them ideal for existing slab-on-grade Texas homes, while hydraulic systems may require structural modifications. See our Texas retrofit guide.

How much space does a home elevator need?

Less than most homeowners expect. A pneumatic vacuum elevator can fit within a footprint of roughly three to five feet and needs no separate machine room. Use our "Will it fit?" checker, and we confirm exact space during your consultation.

Are residential elevators safe?

Yes. Modern home elevators include emergency stop buttons, door interlocks, obstruction sensors, and battery backup, and are installed to ASME A17.1 — the national safety code for elevators.

How much electricity does a home elevator use?

Very little. A residential elevator uses roughly the same electricity as a common household appliance, and pneumatic models draw power only on the way up — they descend gently on stored air pressure.

How long does home elevator installation take?

It depends on the system and your home. Pneumatic installs are often completed in a few days, while retrofits that require structural work take longer. We provide a clear timeline before starting.

Stairlifts

Straight, curved, indoor & outdoor
What types of stairlifts do you install?

We install straight, curved, and outdoor stairlifts, each custom-measured to your staircase. Foldable seats, arms, and footrests keep the stairway clear for others when the lift isn't in use.

Do you install used or refurbished stairlifts?

Yes. Along with new models, we offer quality second-hand stairlift installation as a budget-friendly option — professionally inspected, installed, and backed by our service.

How long does stairlift installation take?

Most straight stairlifts are installed in a single day. Curved stairlifts take longer because the rail is custom-fabricated to match your staircase, but installation is quick once the rail arrives. See our DFW stairlift timeline guide.

Will a stairlift fit a narrow staircase?

In most cases, yes. Stairlifts are custom-measured, and foldable seats and rails keep the pathway clear for others. We evaluate your specific staircase during a free assessment.

Do stairlifts include safety features?

Yes. Every stairlift we install includes seatbelts, obstruction sensors, a swivel seat for safe entry and exit, and battery backup so it keeps working during a power outage.

Installation & What to Expect

Process, permits, and disruption
What is involved in the installation process?

Our process includes an on-site consultation and measurements, system selection, any needed structural preparation, electrical coordination, installation, testing, and a final inspection and walkthrough. We manage the full scope from start to finish. See the North Texas installation process.

Will installation disrupt my home or business?

We work efficiently and protect the surrounding areas to keep disruption minimal. For commercial projects, we coordinate with your contractors and property managers to align with the building's schedule.

Do I need a permit for a home elevator in Texas?

Yes. Residential elevators typically require permits and inspection, and commercial projects must meet ASME A17.1 and Texas code. We handle permitting and inspection readiness for you.

Safety & Compliance

Codes, inspections, and power outages
What safety standards do your elevator systems follow?

All of our systems are installed in accordance with ASME A17.1 — the safety code governing elevators across the United States — and meet applicable Texas regulatory requirements. Inspections are overseen by QEI Certified Inspectors.

What happens if the power goes out?

Residential elevators and stairlifts include battery backup, allowing safe operation during short-term outages, and safety braking systems prevent any uncontrolled movement.

Are commercial elevators required to meet inspection standards?

Yes. Commercial elevators must comply with strict code and inspection standards. We install and modernize systems to meet ASME A17.1 and coordinate for inspection readiness.

Service & Maintenance

Repairs, upkeep, and response times
Do you repair elevators and stairlifts you didn't install?

Yes. Our technicians service and repair residential elevators and stairlifts from major brands, whether or not we performed the original installation. Request service here.

Do home elevators require regular maintenance?

Yes, though not much. We recommend an annual maintenance visit to keep safety systems, sensors, and battery backups working reliably, and new installations include a 12-month parts-and-labor warranty.

How fast can you respond to a service call?

We offer fast response times, with same-day service available in Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Richardson, and surrounding DFW communities when scheduling allows.
